Making A Dent

So many times, you will hear from the pulpit: ‘We must always praise God.’
So many times you will try. And most of the time, it will fade away.
Psalm 34:1-4 says:
‘1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul makes it’s boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.’
Christians try everyday to praise God continually.
They pray every morning, every night.
They read their Bibles every day.
They go to church, meet with friends, and take notes.
But when it comes to people outside, people in the real world will become afraid. I feel it in myself all the time: ‘You and your voice will not make a difference. You will never make a dent in Hell’s population.’
That voice is probably right.
That voice is also not mine. And definitely not God’s.
Sometimes, though, that is not enough to make me stop or rethink this saying: ‘What exactly am I doing?! I’m never going to be important enough to make a difference!’
Then I will turn the opposite direction, I will submit to that voice and leave the Gospel in the dust for however long it takes for me to get my courage back.
Well, not today.
Today, we face those fears, look the devil in the eye, and say, ‘I am not afraid of you.’
Today, we—
Okay, I could be all dramatic and say, ‘Today, we fight!’ raising my sword and voice in a battle cry. Or I could be less dramatic and say, ‘Today, we find out what God has to say about it.’
On a more realistic level, I’d probably choose the latter.
So what, exactly, does God have to say about it?
Well, go read the verses above again. Think to yourself: Why should I do this? How does it benefit me?
Well, if you go a little further into the Bible, you’ll see in Deuteronomy 28:1-6 it says:
‘1 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all His commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world.
2 You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God:
3 Your towns and your fields
will be blessed.
4 Your children and your crops
will be blessed.
The offspring of your herds and flocks
will be blessed.
5 Your fruit baskets and breadboards
will be blessed.
6 Wherever you go and whatever you do,
you will be Blessed.’
That is the physical level of God’s love. He see you, he knows you. He knows the needs of your children and their health. He knows your mind.
This, and the fact that every person who is going to hell needs to know God loves them.
Three words: ‘Jesus loves you.’
Jesus loves you, and I think you need to know it.
I encourage you today to go up to one person you know who doesn’t know Jesus and say this. You can say it and walk away, or you can say it and start a conversation. Say it because their soul needs to know their Creator.
Love them, vanquish that voice, and do it knowing God is on your side.
Stay faithful, Dear Reader,
Claudia
Dear Claudia -
Thanks for the encouragement, to go out and share the good news:
"Jesus Loves You!"
I'm sure there are a lot of people who have lost hope, and they would appreciate hearing that!
