Dirty Love

Last night I was home alone with my sister and we watched a pretty awesome military movie.

It almost made me cry, I’m not going to lie.

But it also made me realize something else.

Good movies are a necessity!

You know, I’ve watched some pretty awesome shows over the last couple weeks, but before that, there was a lot of blank space.

That space made me appreciate good movies.

A few movies I’ve watched in the past couple of weeks:

  • Jurassic World 1 (I say1 becauee I can’t remember the subtitle)

  • Twisters

  • Red Dawn

All of these have mild swear words. Red Dawn was the worst…but it was a thrilling, clean story. Sure, all of these are between PG-16 and PG-13, but you can have thrilling stories made for teenage eyes that make the adults emotional too.

These movies made me realize just how much the world needs more mostly clean stories. There’s still curse words and romance, but it was clean and it made me feel…whole.

The thing with bad movies (even the ones that are popular), is that they have traits that surpass Biblical limits.

A movie doesn’t have to be Biblical to pass as a good movie for Christian teens.

But I’m sure you know what I mean. A Biblical movie is great! Of course you should watch it.

But remember that even the ‘Biblical’ stories might not be raised to Bible standards. The plot and dialogue might be nice but you must watch the plot. People are sneaky and they like it when they can twist you into a life of obcession and hunger.

A movie made to be clean is a movie to remember.

Every time we sit down and scroll on social media or watch a (bad) movie we are pressing worldly views into our truthful minds.

DON’T DO THAT!!

Look for things that remind you of God’s grace and His safety. Like David says in Psalm 25, wait for Him. But do not wait so long you turn away from Him, but wait until He reaches out and touches your soul, and while you wait, make sure you are ready for when God comes to you.

One way you make yourself ready for that is by keeping your heart and your mind clean. Knowing of the world’s problems and it’s trends is one thing, but loving them and becoming part of them is something else.

You can know it, but you do not have to act on something that will dirty your clean soul.

God does not love you with dirty love. He loves you with pure, unconditional love that never fails.

God loves a clean soul and a ready heart and it might take work to do that, but it is not impossible.

Besides, nothing is impossible with God.

Stay faithful,

-Claudia
