Commanded by Truth

‘For have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’ Joshua 1:9. I have no idea what version this is, but I love it either way. 🩶
I have to say, I gotta thank my best friend for this one, before, I had no idea what write about. So, now that I have a verse, why don’t we add a topic? Well, what about…Comanded by Truth. Of course, we cannot communicate with God face-to-face. But, we can read the Sword of the Spirit, and know what is wrong and what is right. We know not to fear the life ahead because we are truthful to the one and only God. We are able to find comfort in knowing we are never alone.
You, Dear Reader, might remember a time when I talked about how I didn’t know the real reason I wrote my book until I was formatting proposals. As I wrote this one girl’s journey through grief and temptation, I never really realized the Biblical representation I was trying to bring to light. You are never alone. My main character, Jessica, has so much she wants to do. She wants to kill the man who murdered her grandfather, she wants to keep her grandmother safe, she wants to make her family proud, and be the hero who saves the city. But she can’t do any of that, and not because she’s not strong enouth. But that she’s trying to do it alone. I know I got a little sidetracked here, but I wanted to tell you, reader, that it is not the lack of commandment, but the lack of faith that leads to the loss of realization.
Alright, let’s make some break-down points:
‘For have I not commanded you?’
‘Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid;’
‘do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’
TaDa!!!!!!!
1, GOD HAS COMMANDED US!!!! There is no other reason to wake up every morning. We have a purpose, to spread and share and proclaim the gospel of God. His goodness has reached our hearts, so God commanded us to reach out to others. He has used the Bible to show us a pathway, now He uses that same Bible to tell you to turn away from sin, go toward Jesus and show the others the Truth. You were commanded long ago to use your blessings to bless others, so do that, and share the Lord’s grace
There was also a second point I would like to share:
God has commanded us, yes. But He has commanded us personally. He has given us each a different, strong, worthy title, His children. He has commanded us to take heed of our parents, to be strong in His name, for we would be strong no other way.
2, ‘Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid;’ If you remember when I talked about courage in Shielded, I said something like: Courage does not come willy-nilly. It comes with trusting we are watched over, and running into battle wih thay knowledge (or soemthing along those lines *shrugs*). Alright, now that we have that over with. So, strength only comes with God. We are humans. We are not strong. Our strength comes from God alone. So find peace in knowing you are strengthened by the Creator of the world. Scare away your fear with the knowledge that Jesus has your back.
3, it’s important to look at the last part of this piece before we dig into anything else. ‘…for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’ This is exactly what I mean when I spoke above about my book. Jessica was doing things, yes, but she was trying to do them alone…and failing because of it.
We are not meant to just be…discouraged because the world around us has suddenly lightened. We are the Lord’s children. Therefore, we must know that He is with us, forever and always. God will be by our sides, guiding us with each step we take. Which is the only way we can have courage.
Amen.
I don’t know, I was feeling really lost as to what I should write this week, so I wrote up this little…thingy. I hope you enjoyed. ☺️ As much as I try to write calmly, I always end up italicizing something. See what I mean? Uh huh. So, I was thinking maybe I would try and post a snippet of my favourite chapter at the end of each blog post for a while. Just to see if you actually read to the end. 😏
So, I’ll ask you here…. Like this post if you think it’s a good idea to post snippets with my posts. If not, well…too bad…. ;)
Does it feel like cheating, when you don’t even get one chapter a week. Don’t worry, I’d make it one chapter a…month? That doesn’t seem fair either! Was this a good idea? Maybe…probably…probably not….
It’s like those mini series Netflix and Disney+ put out…it takes forrrrrreeeeevver to get through the series, then it just… ends. ……….(Writing this blog gives me bad ideas….😎)
Anyway, I hope you liked this post. I mean, if you read this far, you made it somewhere.
God be with you all, take care.
